Come to this unique opportunity to see Jean Bowman’s works related to Clarke County, provided by local owners and on display at a special Long Branch exhibit
For a limited time, works of the late, internationally renowned artist Jean Bowman that are principally associated with Clarke County will be exhibited at Historic Long Branch.
Jean resided in Clarke County from 1946 to the late 1970s and immersed herself in the sporting life and its horses which she captured expertly in her magnificent oil paintings. Her commissions created a legacy of the people, their equine “partners,” and the landscape and character of Clarke County.
This exclusive display of her masterful work on local people, places and horses conveys the sublime beauty of our countryside and serves as an elegant reminder of our County’s heritage and the residents who shaped the need for preservation of open space and an agrarian lifestyle.
We invite you to join us to reminisce about those personalities and places that call to us from the past, strengthening our dedication to preserve Clarke County—a place situated in a bustling region yet remaining separate from today’s frenetic pace. Equine artists will particularly enjoy revisiting Jean's handling of color, light, and attitude in her portraits, both human and equine.
